Others will insist it means fifty-two-weeks-plus-one, ie “the 31st to the 31st”.
I picked between to two.

I’ve always hated that phrase: “It happens when it happens”.
It usually means “Being on time just doesn’t work for me”, or “Can’t we just hold Midsummer’s on Saturday, instead of Tuesday?”, or “Sorry I’m late: I had to burn a ‘fatty’.”, or some such selfish bull.
In this case, we add a new definition: “Sorry I’m late, but I was busy being a real Witch”.
That’s the problem. There are a million and one things that make a life, in the 21st Century. No matter how silly and anachronistic you choose to dress at open full-moon rituals and the Obligatory October Observance “The Witches Ball” held at the All-Souls, a 21st Century life is what you have to live.
It’s in your practice, when your mortar & pestle are replaced with a coffee-grinder (Don’t run Dragon’s Blood through that thing!), and your astrological devices & references are an ‘app’.
Life gets in the way, as well as helps.
I’m dedicated to teaching anyone who finds this page by happy-accident, but I teach because I’m a Witch.
That means, “Being a Witch comes first”.
I update this page as often as possible, to the tune of three times a week at best, but I don’t do it in place of being a Witch.
They say those who can’t do simply teach.
Would you stand for that in a Witchcraft teacher?
I wouldn’t.
So, when you’re looking to see that I’ve let another week go by without an update, just remember: I’m busy Doing.

Balance is Stasis.
Stasis is Death.
Sitting still is stasis, I’m sure you realize, and every day you don’t move forward is a step backwards.
This day only comes once: “Limited Time Only! No Returns & No Exchanges.”
Work for yourself, and not just for the ones who sign paychecks.
Push yourself to improve, treat every day like a day at university in your first semester of freshman year, and you’ll have no choice but to excel!
“Excelsior!”, The Man would say, and I herald those words.
Keep pushing yourself.

I’ve gone into lengths about the value of synesthesia, the exploration of blending of sensory input to isolate neural pathways and even to expend the senses you already possess. The bland becomes vivid, and the subtle profound.
What I hadn’t covered was the endorphin-boost of new experiences.
Quitting smoking, and the system-rinse that follows, isn’t instantaneous. It takes weeks, as this is week-2.
My sense of smell (olfactory) coming back, life’s pallet expands and every little thing is a brand new experience.
That inner child we all retain revels in the new-ness.
Don’t ever discount them.
They are your path to true unabashed emotion, and the very source of power you seek to achieve.
Stop being so childish, and be Child-Like!
Seeing the world through childlike eyes is the best friend your Witchcraft ever had.

Not every job needs a hammer.
Not every tool is a hammer.
Why do you approach every task with a hammer?
As a Witch, your mind is a toolbox. It’s not simply the “Nine Simple Things”, but every way you’ve ever learned to look at the world. These models are your approaches to any task at hand. Every philosophy and religion is a model, a tool as well.
Not one model ever created is a perfect fit to every event or task.
Collect as many as you can, especially the complimentary and conflicting.
Your ability to change from one mindset/model/ideology to the next is an indicator of your potential as a Witch.
It shows your adaptability, flexibility, and latitude as an experienced practitioner.
The right tool for the job, each where it belongs, and with an understanding as to their applicable value to the task.
“The most powerful secret is the one you never tell”
This is a paraphrase of Odin, in a popular translation (The Poetic Edda). He speaks of secrecy, and I concur.
When you put too much of yourself out there, people “decide” who you are, and like the atom split, you are “manifest”. They have certainty about who you are and what you’re about, and your capabilities. This is the anti-matter of Witchcraft. Certainty=Faith-at-its-strongest.
Leave yourself some “wiggle-room”, metaphysically.
“Always keep them guessing” ~(Almost Everyone)
~The Poetic Edda was the inspiration for the “Lord of the Rings” series and settings. Don’t judge Tolkien too harshly, for many would never see it save through his eyes.
People make all sorts of arbitrarily edicts about what you can and cannot do with Witchcraft. This ideology leads others to seek us out, even pose as Witches, to get close to us for help. They attend our conventions, trade fairs, retreats, and open sabbats. They position themselves into conversations for the sole purpose of shifting to the topic of their personal pain, real or imaginary, in hopes someone will volunteer a free stop-healing.
These folks aren’t inherently evil. They probably just crave human contact or sympathy. Their actions are probably indicative of some abuse or neglect throughout their childhood, or simple fan-girl mentality.
The real damage comes from the tilt & skew in how the Witch community receives & presents itself:
“Witch=Cripple”
No one knows their mind, body, and emotions like a Witch, but this doesn’t stop an army of empathetics from publishing so much tripe on “personal healing” that it overwhelms our public identity. There are some fairly bad pieces of this advice floating around, as well (but that’s a topic for a later date).
Suffice it to say that Witches, the real deal, can tell you from your ailments as well as your accomplishments. A real Reiki Master doesn’t get back-pain for very long, A Voudon doesn’t complain, but act. A real Fakir doesn’t complain at all. It isn’t in our natures.
